Hello - I'm Alden Carrow
Born and raised in North Yorkshire, I am an emerging poet whose work draws inspiration from the landscapes and lives of every British county. I write verses that weave vivid detail with heartfelt emotion, celebrating the quiet beauty of familiar places and everyday people.
My Story
Having won first prize in a poetry reading contest held at the Harrogate Conference at the age of 10, I have always been fascinated by poetry. Later in life I began by writing Haikus, and from there I proceeded to experiment by increasing the number of Haikus to four per day. Once I had gained confidence I began writing four stanza poems. Now, guided by a deep appreciation for creativity and cultural heritage, I write to preserve moments that matter. North Yorkshire In Verse - Moor To Shore In Poetry invites readers to explore the region through my lyrical lens where memory meets meaning, and local stories find lasting voice.
My debut collection is the first title in British Counties in Verse, an ongoing series capturing the character and charm of the UK’s regions through poetry.
The next book in the series, Cornwall In Verse - Tide To Tor In Poetry, will be published on 1st December 2025.
